  • Fall Flowers

    Hello Honeybees,

Do you remember, the 21st night of September” Name that song. Yep, nobody but the elements… Earth, Wind & Fire.

    Let’s try this one;

It was the 3rd of September, a day I’ll always remember“…. The Temptations, Papa Was A Rolling Stone

School has started, my youngest is in his Senior year of High School and applying to colleges. Our motto for the process is …..follow the money!!

We celebrate September 1st in the 901 area code.

Football season has started. I only care about College because the NFL still has work to do before I go back. In Memphis that means Tiger football and the Southern Heritage Classic.

It’s time for the new Fall T.V. season lineup. Thank you lawd because I’m ready for some new shows.

Pumpkin Spice lattes are back… judge yo momma, not me.

Even though the calendar says that it’s almost Fall, it’s not official until September 22nd, this Memphis weather is not listening.  Fall is my favorite season of the year, followed by Spring.  I love the “bridge seasons”, not to hot and not to cold. The only drawback is trying to figure out what to wear. What do you wear when it’s cooler in the mornings, warmer during the day and then cool again at night?

I’ve teamed up with some fellow Memphis bloggers this month to talk about the summer to fall outfit transition. This week’s theme is Flowers. What I like most about my #OOTD is that I can roll up my sleeves if I get too hot and I can add a jacket & tights when its gets cool. I also love the yellow & black in this skirt. What honeybee wouldn’t?

  • Living My Best Life

    Hello Honeybees,

Have you heard the song Living My Best Life by Lil Duval? Despite some of the language I love the hook in this song. I’m living my best life, ain’t going back & forth with you “people”.  But what does it mean to live your best life? And by whose standards?

To me “living my best life” means different things to different people at different stages in their life.

In your 20’s– it could mean finishing school, trying to figure out what to do with the rest of your life. It could mean hitting the clubs. It could mean traveling the world. It could mean falling in love.

In your 30’s– it could mean getting married, starting a family. Putting some real focus on your career, climbing the corporate ladder. Buying that piece of property. Traveling the world. Starting your own business because you realize that a 9-5 is not for you.

In your 40’s– it could mean realizing that all that time you thought other people’s opinions mattered…well they really didn’t. It could mean having meaningful life experiences versus hitting the clubs. It could mean finally believing that you can live life on your terms.

In your 50’s-it could mean realizing that life is all about YOUR happiness. Your kids are either up & out or on their way out. It’s about creating truly amazing life experiences. It’s about making sure that what you want out of life is still within your reach & you’re still moving towards it. Nothing & no one will stand in your way.

This may not look like your best life at all but that’s the beauty of it all. YOUR best life is what YOU want and what YOU make it. I would love to add more travel, especially international travel to my life. I would love to be in a better place financially. That’s the best life that I am working on for me and it’s never too late to make it happen.

But what I’m not gonna do is compare my best life to yours. I’m not going back & forth with you people. I’m gonna life my best life on my terms. Thanks for being along for the ride.

What is YOUR idea of “living your best life”?

  • Hot Springs Weekend

    Hello Honeybees,

Sometimes 48 hours is all you need to get in alignment. This past weekend I was able to do just that. I got away for 48 hours with my aunt, a friend and two of my cousins to help celebrate my aunts birthday. We didn’t go far but this trip accomplished it’s mission for me. I got a chance to just relax and enjoy.

Hot Springs, Arkansas is only a few hours away from Memphis making it a quick and easy getaway.

We hit the road Friday morning and had lunch at The Bleu Monkey Grill in Hot Springs. I didn’t get any lunch pictures because I was starving. They had a delicious bread with the pesto dipping oil.

There was a religious conference in Hot Springs happening at the same time so finding lodging was a challenge. My cousin who planned the trip likes to stay with the Choice Hotels family. When we pulled up to the motel I was very skeptical. We checked out the rooms to make sure that we were going to stay, we were pleasantly surprised. We had a back up but we didn’t need it.
After the drive & food we were in for the night. We ate leftovers lunch for dinner & we knocked out for the night.

Saturday morning we had an early start. First up was breakfast. We ate at the cutest pancake house. In fact it was so good we went back the next morning before leaving. I highly recommend this family owned establishment.

We had a little time to kill before our thermal pool & steam cave appointment so we took a quick self guided tour of the Fordyce Bathhouse Visitors Center. I like history so it was fascinating to see the history of the bath houses & physical therapy equipment.

Next up was the Thermal Pools at Quapaw Baths & Spa. Sitting in 104 degree water was AMAZING then spending 20 minutes in the steam cave was just what my mind, body and skin needed. I really enjoyed the experience & the price was just right. I would like to go back for a full day of services.

Afterwards we headed to Thai-Me Spa for drinks, massages and the oxygen bar.

We had a late lunch at the Fisherman’s Wharf. The view was beautiful & the food was delicious.

Next stop was the Garvan Woodland Gardens. We got there an hour before closing so we didn’t get to tour the grounds but we did get to see the Carillon and the beautiful chapel.

Whew, we packed a lot in one day but it was fun & relaxing. Great company, good food and beautiful scenery was just what I needed to get back in the groove.

There is so much history that I didn’t get to explore. There will definitely be another trip to Hot Springs in the future. Follow me on Instagram for more picture.
