  • Can You Handle The Truth?

    Hello Honeybees,

Recently I was having a conversation about telling people the truth. Everyone always says that they want people to be honest with them but then get upset when people tell them the truth. Some people have no trouble saying what’s on their mind. They are straight shooters when it comes to giving you advice.  But could they handle it if you gave it to them the way they give it to you? Most times the answer is NO. It’s always easier for someone to tell you what they think but they do not want you to tell them anything.

If you knew that your friends significant other was cheating would you tell?

If you knew that your friend was about to make a big mistake would you tell them?

Does the truth depend on the strength of your friendship/relationship?

What about in the workplace? How much truth is shared among coworkers & superiors?

I like to hear the truth, yes I really do, especially if I ask you for it and it is given in the right spirit. Meaning you are not trying to harm but to help. Your truth might be able to help me grow and learn. However, it can be hard for me sometimes to give the truth especially if I know that it is going to hurt the person. I’ll give it but the delivery will be soft. Am I wrong for that?

How do you feel about the truth? Would you want someone that doesn’t pull punches or someone to do a soft lob?

  • Denim & The Dixon

    Hello Honeybees,

This is the last look for our Spring Trends series. I had such a good time working with my fellow bloggers this month.

For our final look is haute denim and as nod to Spring our shoot was at the Dixon Garden & Gallery. There are so many pretty places in the garden to help you capture the perfect picture. Just like each flower bloomed in the garden we also bloomed in our denim.

The grounds are simply beautiful. Most of the flowers were in full bloom. The beautiful colors definitely signaled Spring. The day was overcast which is perfect for a photo shoot and strolling the grounds. A quick suggestion, if you are coming to walk the gardens wear comfortable shoes. If you are looking for a pretty space to shoot pictures the Dixon Gallery & Gardens is perfect. We saw a beautiful wedding party, an engagement shoot and a family photo session. See, perfect!

The Dixon Gallery & Gardens is a small piece of heaven in the center of our wonderful city. I didn’t get a chance to visit the galley but I will and soon. The creative in me is dying to go back. I encourage you to plan a visit & soon.

I’m standing in the Memphis Garden Club Cutting Garden. • I Hope You Dance

    Hello Honeybees,

When I was a little girl I wanted to be a ballerina, didn’t every little girl? I did take ballet, jazz and gymnastics. Even in college I took dance as my P.E. requirement. Do kids still have to do that?

I knew that I would never be a ballerina but in my heart I still have a love for dance, especially ballet.

A lesson that I have learned in these 50 years, just because you had a childhood dream that didn’t come true doesn’t mean that you give up on it. That dream can still have a place in your life. I’ll never be Misty Copeland but I follow her career. I love The Alvin Ailey Dance Theater & try to see them as often as I can. I still have a pair of ballet shoes from my younger days. I have a picture of Judith Jamison hanging in my hall and I have my prized Ailey Barbie doll.

Some childhood dreams do come true, some don’t. As adults we should keep some of that childhood wonder. As adults we have the ability, effort and means to realize our dreams. I encourage you to never stop fighting for your dreams. It may get hard but if we combine that child like wonder with adult effort our dreams can come true.

I’ll never stop dancing and you shouldn’t either.
