  • Thrifting With A Diva

    Hello Honeybees,

The day after Christmas most people hit the stores for the after Christmas sales. It’s the best time to stock up for all things Christmas for next year. This year I decided to go thrifting instead. I had it all planned out but when I woke up on December 26th the temperature was 31 degrees. That made me change my mind or so I thought… I posted my dilemma on Facebook and my favorite thrifting diva @divinedivastyle heard the call and got me out of the house.

We met at Mid-South Outlet.  Goodwill is usually my go to thrift store but Mid-South Outlet is closer.

All yellow tag items were 50% off so we were on the hunt for those first. Of course the first 3 items that I picked up did NOT have yellow tags but that didn’t stop me.

When shopping at Mid-South Outlet be aware that they do NOT have dressing rooms & once you buy it it’s yours. For stores like this it’s important to shop in the right clothes.  A fitted tee, leggings and slip on shoes if possible & a small cross body bag to hold your phone, money & keys, that way you can try things on over your clothes. You won’t get a true fit but you will have a pretty good idea if it’s something that you can work with.  The aisles are also tight they have these baskets to help.

There were some treasures that we left behind because they either didn’t fit or they were out of budget. YES, we had a budget.

Yes this is a real Lilly Pulitzer size 4.

My limit for today’s trip was $20 and I stayed UNDER budget. I purchased 5 items. 1 skirt, 2 tops and 2 pants. My total…..$17.38.

I’ll share my haul in future post.

Thanks @divinedivastyle for being my thrift shopping buddy.

    Something New Is Happening

    Hello Honeybees,

As we near the end of 2017 and get ready to move into 2018 I hope like me you are setting new goals for the new year. You don’t have to wait until January to start working on your new goals. Why wait? Start NOW.  I set some new goals for the blog and I didn’t wait until 2018 to put them into action.

I have a new name to reflect my new focus and because when I see you all out people will say  “Hey Honeybee” and I LOVE IT. I love the city of Memphis and I want to start embracing it and sharing all things Memphis from my vantage point.

Let me know what you think of the new name.

Welcome to The Honeybee 901. Inspired by all things Memphis.

I’m starting the new year by doing a collaboration with some other 901 bloggers. Yall, I found my blogger tribe. So please go show them some love.  Bianca is a fashion blogger at Curvaceously Bee Ashlee is a chic fashion blogger at Big World Huge Style. Chastity is a fitness and lifestyle blogger at Sweat In Mascara and Marshella Taylor is a fashion and inspirational blogger at Tayloredxtaylor.  This weeks theme is Friends & Family.

Playing games with Friends & Family can be a lot of fun and depending on the game it can be serious. You will NEVER catch me at the Spades table. I know my limits.

Dressing casual to hang out and play is just my style. Jeans, boots and sweater.

I’m ready to play. Chess anyone?

Sweater: Target, Jeans: Old Navy, Boots: Unisa

Thank you for being on this blogger journey with me. There are new adventures to take in 2018 and I look forward to taking you with me. If you see me out in the 901 PLEASE say something.  Hey Honeybee!!!!

Beewisdom- Let’s not play games with our goals.

  • My City 4 Ways

    Hello Honeybees,

My 2017 vision board for the blog has the Essence logo on it because I want to be in or work with Essence magazine. On Saturday I got the chance to see part of that vision come to life as I was apart of the blogger team for the My City 4 Ways presented by Essence & Ford Motor.

Memphis was the last stop on the Essence & Ford Motor My 4 City Tour. The tour was a combination of Style, Art, Music and Food all showcased by Memphis talent. Designer Karleen Roy ;  artist Jamond Bullock;  singer Keia Johnson  and Chef D. Arthur.  Memphis showed up to support its own.

The panel was moderated by co-hosts Essence Lifestyle & Relationships Editor Charreah Jackson and comedian Loni Love. Loni was to funny, keeping the crowd hyped with music  by Memphis twins DJ Tootz.  Being up close and personal with June Ambrose was like my Instagram coming to life. She is everything you see or read about her. Open, warm, totally down to earth and the life of the party. She is truly an inspiring living legend.

The beautiful Kelis & Chef D. Arthur provided tasty treats for the palate and the signature drinks were pretty and refreshing.

I wanted to participate in the “Ride & Drive” experience but as a former Ford owner I did not want to get bit by the new car bug.  But I will say that Ford Mustang was calling my name. I was also inspired by Patrice Banks of Girls Auto Clinic. Yes, ladies know how to fix cars & look cute while doing it.

The final performance by Singer-songwriter, Ro James was just what the ladies ordered.

Being a part of the Essence & Ford My City 4 Ways experience was one a great treat not just for me but for Memphis.  Hope to see them again.
