  • Real G’s Move In Silence

    Hello Honeybees,

Ok, so I am not a Lil Wayne fan but I do love the line… “Real G’s move in silence like the G in lasagna.” I admit that I didn’t know about the whole lasagna reference until my 18 yo son hipped me to it.  One day I was sharing what I thought was some motherly advice that went something like this:

Me: “Real G’s move in silence”

Him: “like the g in lasagna”

Me: Looking at him like he cursed.

Him: “What, that’s the rest of that line from a Lil Wayne song”

Me: Lil Wayne? You have got to be kidding me

Him: Nope, it’s in a Lil Wayne song

    Me: heads to Google

Also me: people really had a debate about the “G” in lasagna being silent and if the “G” stood for gansta.

Anyway, here is MY point and his I think, EVERYONE doesn’t need to know your every move. Keep some things to yourself. After you have made your move that’s when you let the world know so that we can all celebrate with you. For me when I’m making a Real G move the fewer people that know about it the better. I don’t need any negative energy around me. I will share it with the people that I trust and that I know are in my corner. Positive vibes ONLY!

I know that social media makes it really easy to overshare, says the lady with a blog, however I share the parts of my life that I choose to share at the time that I want to share.  It’s not that I’m trying to hide anything but somethings are better left unsaid until they can speak for themselves.

Believe me The Honeybee is planning, strategizing and executing and when the time is right I will share my moves with the world. But until then just know that this G is moving………in silence.

  • My Tribe

    Hello Honeybees,

    Do you have a tribe?

If so who is in your tribe?

What’s the vibe of your tribe?

Well I have a tribe, I actually have several, here and here . Kind of like the 5 tribes that make up Wakanda. I have several tribes that help keep this queen together. Last month I got together with one of my tribes to celebrate one of our own who recently earned her MBA. It’s important that we celebrate our wins, the big ones and especially the small ones. We try to get together often but between, family, work & LIFE it can be hard. We finally found a day & time that worked for all or rather we all made the time to celebrate. You make time for what’s important to you and this girl time was important.

We decided on pot luck to help make it easier on the host, Me! We had a great time just catching up. We reminisced about the college days, old dating woes, the children, men and of course the future. We FaceTimed one of our daughters who is at Clark Atlanta. It’s just amazing to think that we all met when we were teens & now we have children from college graduates to middle school. Time waits for no wo(man), so you have to enjoy life in the moments.

One thing that made this night extra special was our treasure boxes. We wrote notes to each other to keep in our boxes so that whenever we need a little encouragement we can go to our boxes. This way we always have someone to help adjust our crowns even if we can’t be there physically.

I am so proud to have so many queens surrounding me. I am blessed that we help & encourage one another. Find your tribe and love them hard.

  • I Think I Can

    Hello Honeybees,

Last week I attended the Association of Women Attorneys annual banquet.  The attorney that was honored, Maureen Holland, gave a very moving and memorable speech. She talked about the people and causes that were important to her.  She talked about growing up in small towns in Vermont and how she taught herself to read.  She realized when she started first grade that she couldn’t read, so she went home, got a book and taught herself to read.  The book that she used was The Little Engine That Could by Watty Piper.

    Book Cover

I know that most if not all of us have read The Little Engine That Could as a child.  Despite its size the determined little engine pulls a train full of toys to waiting children on the other side of a mountain. His mantra “I Think I Can, I Think I Can” is something that we learn to say at a very young age but guess what…as we grow older it’s something that we need to revisit.

As Maureen went thru her presentation she talked about things in her life where she didn’t know if she would be successful but she tried anyway and things worked out……I Think I Can!!

There will ALWAYS be situations in life where we don’t know the outcome but we have to try anyway.  If we don’t try then we stay stuck where we are. I don’t know about you but I like moving forward…  I Think I Can!!!

    I think I can

No matter the size of your obstacle big or small….. I Think I Can!

It seems simple but it’s true….. You Can Do IT! No matter what IT might be.
